4 7/8" long (12.4 cm). This is a typical example of one of the objects included on the top of an asen. Asen are stuck into the ground near the family house in memory of a deceased member of the family. Asen are iron stakes with round flat tops adorned with a wide variety of objects which presumably evoke the spirit of the individual the stake represents.
